Found a 1972 Nikon service manual that says the F2 shutter is rated for 100,000 clicks, but my bench log from last year shows most come in dead around 40k
Pulled that manual from a box of old paperwork a retired tech in Rochester sold me for $20, and now I keep wondering if the rating was marketing or if modern shooters just abuse these bodies way harder than the folks in 1972 did, so what numbers are you all seeing on your own shutter replacements?
The "marketing or abuse" thing is so real, I've had three F2s come through my hands that died way before 100k and two of them were clearly rode hard by a press guy. My own clean body is at about 60k and still sounds fine, so I'm betting the 1972 number was for ideal conditions, not whatever we do to them now.
