My cardboard Mandalorian helmet turned into a pancake at the con

I spent three days building this Boba Fett bucket out of cereal boxes and hot glue, got it painted perfect. Walked into the convention center in Phoenix, took it off for a second to grab my badge, and some guy backed his prop cart right over it. It made this awful crunch sound and just flattened, lmao. Had to walk around the rest of the day holding a sad, folded piece of cardboard. Anyone got a better material for helmets that won't cost me fifty bucks?

Visited the old power plant in Gary and the boiler room layout had me thinking

I was out there last month for a job bid and got a tour of the main boiler house. The thing that really got me was the steam header placement. It was mounted way up high, almost to the ceiling, with the main feed lines coming down at these sharp angles. The foreman said it was from a retrofit in the 80s to add capacity without a full rebuild. It works, but watching the crew do a valve inspection on a rolling platform looked like a real pain. It made me wonder if putting it lower with longer horizontal runs would have been smarter for maintenance, even if it took up more floor space. Has anyone else run into a retrofit setup that just seems to make the simple jobs harder?

I used to answer questions with a quick guess, but now I always double-check the source first.

About a year ago, I gave someone wrong advice on a forum about a dog food ingredient because I was going off memory. I found out later from a vet in my town, Dr. Miller, that I was off by a lot. Now I take an extra minute to look up facts from trusted sites before I post anything. Has anyone else started doing this after a mistake?

Just hit 100 batches of air fryer chicken wings and I'm kind of shocked

I started keeping a tally on my fridge after I got my Cosori last year, just for fun. I hit the 100 mark last night and it really hit me how much I use this thing... I've probably saved a ton on takeout from Buffalo Wild Wings. Has anyone else tracked their use and been surprised by the number?

Honestly thought I could stretch that last piece in the master bedroom corner

I was finishing a job in a new build in Tempe, and the final corner was just an inch short after the main stretch. Ngl, I tried to force it with my knee kicker and heard that awful ripping sound. Ended up having to cut a whole new piece from the last of the roll, which set me back almost two hours. Anyone ever have a better trick for a tight corner when you're running out of carpet?

Serious question, has anyone else had a good experience with a broker everyone else seems to hate?

My uncle, who's been investing for 30 years, said his broker at a firm with a 2.2-star average rating has actually saved him money with their low flat-fee structure. It made me wonder if online reviews are just for the angry people. What's a broker you've stuck with despite bad press?
