inFinally got that stubborn riser to break clean on a big gear pattern
A quarter inch seems like a tiny thing to cause that much trouble. Are you sure it wasn't a combo of that and something else?

inQuestion about using a different flux on some old copper pipe
Leo's point about a lucky fit is probably right in my case. My joints usually look like a kindergartner did them with a crayon, so any smooth flow feels like a miracle. That tinning flux might have just covered up my usual bad prep work (which is a real skill of mine). I'll take the win, but it was likely the pipe being cleaner than my usual mess.

inQuestion about a weird patch job I had to do in an old theater
Ever see someone try to bend drywall and just snap it in half? My buddy did that on a curved wall project and was so mad. He ended up scoring the back and using joint compound like you said, and it actually held the shape while it dried. He said it was way less stressful than fighting with a full sheet. Sometimes the old school way isn't the only school.

inCan we talk about the weirdest question you've ever gotten from a client?
People will believe anything. Got asked if granite counters could store memories once.

inI found my grandpa's handwritten slow cooker chili recipe from 1982 in a box of his things.
Remember my friend who tried to rush her grandma's stew recipe?
