I dropped $80 on a 'premium' online course about asking better questions

Ugh, that's the worst feeling. So they basically sold you a list of things most people figure out by just talking to others? What really gets me is the price tag for that. Did the sales page make it sound like some secret method, or was it just vague promises?

Trying to fix a light leak on my old Pentax K1000 turned into a whole weekend project

I had to bend my latch twice before it finally sealed right.

Heard a guy at the Freightliner dealer in Springfield say he never flushes coolant systems

That guy is gonna cost someone a big repair bill. On the newer stuff, you absolutely have to flush out the old coolant completely or the additives fall out and turn to sand. Seen it plug up oil coolers and kill engines. Always use the cleaner and follow it with a thorough reverse flush.

I bought a cheap miter saw stand thinking it would be fine for small jobs

Learned that lesson the hard way with a wobbly ladder. Bought a cheap one that folded on me, nearly took a bad fall. Now I just save up and buy the good stuff once.

My mom's 'just add more' fix for dry cake batter made a huge difference

Oh, I've made that mistake myself more than once. I'm convinced a lot of recipe writers just use a random coffee mug for their "one cup" of milk. Humidity does play a role, but I blame shaky measuring from the start. My own kitchen failures prove that a tablespoon of variance in liquid can turn a cake into a brick. It's why I finally gave in and bought a scale, after one too many sad, dense loaves of bread.
