I bought a cheap miter saw stand thinking it would be fine for small jobs
It was a no-name brand stand that cost me $120. The legs wobbled right out of the box, and the material felt flimsy. I spent over an hour trying to shim it and tighten everything, but it never got truly stable. On the third use, one of the plastic locking mechanisms snapped while I was cutting a 2x4. The saw tipped and ruined the board, and I had to stop the whole project. I should have just spent the extra $80 on a decent brand from the start. Has anyone found a good, solid stand that won't break the bank?

Learned that lesson the hard way with a wobbly ladder. Bought a cheap one that folded on me, nearly took a bad fall. Now I just save up and buy the good stuff once.

Used to think any stand would work for weekend projects. Your story about the plastic breaking convinced me that's wrong. Now I see why paying more for good tools matters.
