inWarning: my broker's 'free' account transfer took 3 weeks and cost me $150
Ugh, that's the oldest trick in the book. It feels like every company does this now, not just brokers. They get you in the door with the big, easy promise, and then the real cost and hassle is buried where you won't look. My internet provider and my old gym pulled the same stuff. The free part is for the basic action, but then they nickel and dime you for every single step of actually doing it. It makes you feel powerless because you're already committed. Sorry you had to deal with that mess.

inA security guard in the old Sunrise Mall food court shared a story that stuck with me
It's amazing how much history gets locked into those everyday places. You walk in and just see a room, but someone else sees their whole life story written on the walls. That bowling alley story is a perfect example. It makes you realize every closing business probably has a dozen quiet stories like that, just waiting to be told one last time.

inI used to think pocket hole jigs were just for quick fixes, not real joinery.
Totally get where Kevin's coming from. Glue is the real hero in those joints. Built a massive media console for my place using basically the same method, just a grid of pocket holes and a good wood glue. That thing is a tank, holds a crazy heavy old tube TV and all my gear. The shear strength on those screws when they're set in glue is no joke. People see the pocket holes and think it's a shortcut, but the physics actually work out if you plan it right.
