My kitchen faucet handle snapped clean off this morning while I was doing dishes.

It's an old single-handle model and the plastic cartridge inside just gave out. I'm debating whether to try replacing just the cartridge for about $25 or if I should upgrade the whole faucet, which seems like a bigger job. Has anyone had luck with a cartridge swap on a Moen faucet that's over 10 years old?

Is a broken handle really a sign you need a whole new faucet? That plastic cartridge is basically a cheap wear part, like a light bulb burning out. I just fixed mine with a cartridge from the hardware store and it took maybe twenty minutes. A full replacement feels like fixing a flat tire by buying a new car.

Totally agree. It's wild how quick people are to replace the whole thing. That cartridge fix is basically free compared to a new faucet.

Swapped cartridges on my old Moen last year and it's been perfect since.
