Got my gear stolen from a cafe in Medellin because I trusted the 'safe' corner spot

My passport stays in a money belt, always.

Just found out cats have a special scent gland on their cheeks for marking

Wait, I have to disagree a little! I always heard it's more about ownership than safety. My cat does it most when new stuff comes into the house, like a bag or a person. It seems like he's saying "this is mine now" more than "this is safe." He's not a clingy cat at all, he's pretty independent. The book probably has the right facts, but I see the meaning differently. It feels like a territorial thing first and a comfort thing second.

Pro tip: I switched from a 3/8 to a 1/4 inch end mill for finishing passes on aluminum and the chatter marks vanished overnight.

Yeah @victor_lane60, read that smaller diameter means less flex.

My uncle swore the old Edmonton chat was useless for finding a plumber, but I got a solid referral in 20 minutes.

Totally get what you're saying, Kelly. WilliamPrice makes a fair point about the chat, but it's a real mixed bag. You still have to sort through a ton of people who just talk and never follow through. The real test is if they actually set a plan and show up. That filter happens way later, no matter where you find them.

Hot take: People think a clean chimney means no more creosote risk

Is dry wood really that big of a deal, @shane_perry29? I've started plenty of fires with wood that wasn't perfectly dry. Sure, it smokes more, but it still gets going. Maybe it matters more for a perfect cooking fire, but for just staying warm it seems like people stress over it too much.
