inMy whole night of imaging the Orion Nebula got wrecked by a neighbor's security light
Totally feel that, @susan_hart17. I've started checking for traffic patterns now before I even set my tripod down.

inI keep putting landline backups in every install, call me crazy
Remember to stash a hand crank radio too. Found one at a yard sale last year and it's a lifesaver when the power's out for days. What's your go-to backup when the grid goes down?

inTIL most carpet padding recycling programs are just for show.
Wasn't that the most frustrating thing? @lisak14 is totally right about it being theater. My town started a big food scrap pickup program last year, and we all got these special little bins. I used mine for months, feeling so good about it. Then I found out from a guy who works at the waste place that when the truck is too full, they just dump the whole load straight into the landfill to save a trip. So my rotten lettuce took the same scenic route as a dirty diaper. What is even the point of that? It just makes you feel dumb for trying.

inPSA: Heard a guy at the parts counter say he never checks for swollen caps on newer boards
I mean, that's pretty early for caps to go bad on a 2020 machine, @karenf40. Maybe it was a bad batch or got too hot a lot. Just unlucky, I guess.

inMy uncle tried to convince me his gas guzzler was green because he 'drives it slow'
Ugh, that mindset is everywhere. People buy reusable bags once and act like they've solved climate change. It's just checking a box so you don't have to actually change anything.
