Oh man this hits home. Our AC guy swore it'd be a two day job and it turned into almost three weeks with all the surprise fixes. The timeline they give you is basically a guess they made up on the spot.

Heat sealing is the step everyone skips and it always bites you later. Same thing happens with craft foam armor for cosplay, you can sand and shape it perfect, then hit it with spray paint and watch it curl up like a potato chip because the heat from the foam gun never closed the cells. What works better is hitting the whole surface with a heat gun until it goes shiny, then doing two light coats of plastidip, not one heavy one. Heavy coats trap the solvent and it eats into the foam. Also seal the back side too, not just the front, or it warps from uneven drying.

...and honestly that reminds me of the time I almost rented a place that turned out to be a converted janitor's closet in a parking garage. The ad said "cozy studio, industrial vibe" and the rent was stupid cheap. I got there and the "window" was a painted mural of a window on the wall. Still had a mop sink in the corner and everything. I asked the guy about parking and he pointed at a fire lane. Probably could've made it work if I didn't need to wash dishes, but the smell of bleach never really goes away. Makes you wonder what else they're hiding when the tour is that creative.
