Found my grandma's trick for her rhubarb pie crust in a 1974 church cookbook

Those old binder fixes are just messy guesswork, honestly. Modern recipes are tested in real kitchens with exact science behind them. Why trust a random note from 1974 when you can find a proven method online that explains the chemistry? A proper thickener like cornstarch works better than hoping crackers absorb juice.

My cat, Mochi, spent an entire Tuesday last week just sitting and staring at the same corner of the living room ceiling. She wouldn't even look at her favorite feather toy!

My old cat, Gus, used to do that... he'd fixate on a blank patch of wall for hours. We never saw a bug or anything, but he'd chatter his teeth like he was watching a whole movie we couldn't see. It was kind of spooky, actually.

Rant: Saw a guy in Frankfurt trying to force a huge toiletry bag into his overhead bin

But like... it's just a toiletry bag. You put toothpaste in it. I've used a ziplock freezer bag for years and it works fine. People get so into the gear when the stuff inside is what actually matters.

I was sure that 'room temp eggs' for cakes was just baking snobbery until my chocolate cake came out dense as a brick for the third time in a row.

Okay "dense as a brick" is a painfully accurate description of my first few attempts at pound cake. I was the same with room temp butter, thought it was a waste of time until my mixer started smoking trying to cream cold bricks of it. Letting it sit out made it blend with the sugar like a dream.

My neighbor in Chicago pointed out my butter was too cold for cookies

Ever try grating it with a cheese grater?
