My neighbor in Chicago pointed out my butter was too cold for cookies
I always chilled it straight from the fridge, but she saw my crumbly dough and said to leave it out for an hour. Anyone have a good trick for softening butter fast?
Beth_Sanchez beat me to it, that's exactly what I do. Frozen butter on a box grater works perfect for me, just have to grate it fast before it starts warming up.
Has anyone tried the grating trick but with frozen butter? Beth_sanchez is right about it working, but I found if it's really solid, the grater just gums up. I put the stick in a ziploc and whack it a few times with a rolling pin instead. It warms up faster when it's flat.
