Warning: that cheap set of spudgers from the online marketplace

I bought a set of five for $15 to save a few bucks on a simple lens disassembly. The first one snapped in half the second I put any pressure on a retaining ring. The metal was so soft it bent on the next try. Ended up scratching the ring channel and spent two hours cleaning up the mess. What's a good brand for tools that won't fail on basic plastic clips?

Reminds me of trying to fix my garage door opener with a bargain bin set of hex keys. The L-wrench rounded out its own head on the first stubborn bolt, left me with a stripped screw and a bigger problem. Sometimes the cheap tool just costs you more time in the end. I learned that lesson the hard way too.

Ugh, I gotta totally disagree here. Most of the time the cheap tool gets the job done just fine and you saved a bunch of cash. That one bad experience doesn't mean all budget tools are trash. If you're only using a hex key once a year, why spend fifty bucks on a fancy set? The real problem is usually the person using the tool, not the tool itself. I've fixed plenty of stuff with dollar store screwdrivers and they worked perfect.
