I finally saw the difference between a clean attic run and a mess after 2 years.

Did a service call at a house I wired back in 2022, and the new guy had been in there since. My bundle was still neat and labeled, but the rest was a rat's nest of unmarked coax. It made finding the bad line take three times longer. How do you guys mark your runs so the next person doesn't get lost?

What's your color code system for the tape, like red for living room and blue for master bedroom? I've seen guys use different colors but never write down what they mean, which just makes a new kind of mess.

Forget labels, they fall off or fade. I use colored electrical tape on the cable itself, right at the panel. Pick a color code and stick to it for the whole job. Wrap it tight so it can't slide off. It's cheap, fast, and the next guy can see it from three feet away. A sharpie just isn't good enough for the long term.
