Finally got up the nerve to try that 'shortcut' on the Lost Coast Trail...

Remember that time in Washington with the "dry" creek bed? Tbh, we got halfway across before the sky just opened up. It was a solid lesson that any shortcut tied to nature is basically a gamble.

I finally saw the difference between a clean attic run and a mess after 2 years.

Forget labels, they fall off or fade. I use colored electrical tape on the cable itself, right at the panel. Pick a color code and stick to it for the whole job. Wrap it tight so it can't slide off. It's cheap, fast, and the next guy can see it from three feet away. A sharpie just isn't good enough for the long term.

Spent 4 hours chasing a phantom ground fault in a 1980s panel

Tell me about it. Chased a flickering light for half a day once. Turned out to be a bad splice in the attic from a circuit we abandoned ten years prior. The vibration from the new bathroom fan right below it finally shook it loose. Felt like a real genius after that one. Those old hidden faults will humble you every time.

Got locked out of my bank account in Chiang Mai because of a VPN

Ever try using a digital bank made for travelers? I keep a Revolut account just for moving money between countries. Emery603 has the right idea about telling your main bank, but I still got locked out once. Now I keep a small amount in a separate travel friendly account so a freeze doesn't stop everything. Makes life way easier when you're always on the move.

The difference in our old Cincinnati core machine after a deep clean

Pressure washing the inside sounds risky to me, water and old electronics don't mix. I'd never go past compressed air and a good vacuum on our older machines, too worried about starting a corrosion problem or shorting something out. That scrap rate drop is impressive, but I'd be watching for new electrical faults over the next few weeks.
