inA guy at the trailhead in Bend told me my tent stake setup was basically a kite
I've seen guys at Joshua Tree use just six basic stakes for a big rainfly in 40 mph gusts. They spent twenty minutes finding the perfect rock placements and hammering them in at sharp angles. Sometimes the best gear upgrade is just more patience with what you already have.

Was it really a time sink though? You got it done and now your house is better for years. Some projects just take the time they take.

inStumbled on a simple light bounce method for mall interiors
Honestly that whole bounce light trick reminds me of trying to get a decent picture of my cat in a dark room last week. Tbh I just ended up shining my phone flashlight at the ceiling and it looked way less harsh. Ngl @xena_murray81 your movie theater story is way cooler than my cat photo struggles though. Makes you realize half the stuff in your pockets or bag can work in a pinch if you get creative with it.
