My neighbor said his new SUV was 'green' because it gets 22 mpg

I was grabbing my mail yesterday and he was showing it off. He was totally serious, saying it was better for the planet than his old truck. It just hit me how messed up the marketing is, making people think a slight improvement is the same as real action. Has anyone else had a conversation like that that just left you shaking your head?

My new shed door fell right off its hinges in a Kansas windstorm

It happened Tuesday when a gust hit 50 mph. I'd just finished putting up the whole Tuff Shed kit myself last weekend. The door just folded outward and landed in my tomato plants. Anyone know a good way to anchor these things so they survive the plains?

Serious question, I was reading a 2013 Senate report and saw the CIA admitted to running a fake vaccination program

I found it while looking up old public records for a paper, and it said they used a hepatitis B program in Pakistan to try and get DNA samples from Osama bin Laden's family. That's a real thing our government did, using doctors as cover. How is that not the exact kind of thing that makes people distrust everything now?

Showerthought: I was over-processing my balayage for like a year

Honestly, I watched a client's hair just snap off when I was combing through a lightener mix I'd left on for 45 minutes. It was a wake-up call. Now I check the texture every 10 minutes and never go past 30, even with a 20 volume developer. Anyone else have a hard timing rule they stick to for lightening?

A client in Springfield insisted on cedar posts for a chain link fence

I thought it was a total waste of money and told them pressure-treated pine would hold up just fine. But after five years, they sent me a picture and those cedar posts still looked brand new, no rot at the ground line at all. Anyone else had a customer's weird request actually prove you wrong?

My back finally called it quits after a week of moving sheet goods

Spent all week hauling full sheets of plywood by myself for a big built in project, and now my lower back is in full revolt. I was so focused on the cut list I totally forgot about lifting form until the sharp pain hit. How do you guys handle the heavy material side of things without wrecking yourself.
