inWatching a guy in Portland strip a table with a heat gun changed my whole process
My uncle's old workshop had that same chemical smell stuck in the walls. It's like we all just accept the worse way to do things because it's what we know. I see it with people using dull knives or ancient vacuum cleaners. You get used to the struggle and forget there might be a better tool. That moment of seeing a heat gun work is like a little wake up call to question your routine.

inAm I the only one who still uses a handsaw for finish cuts?
Watched a guy fight his miter saw for an hour on baseboard my handsaw nailed in two minutes lol.

inWhy does nobody talk about the difference a good sanding block makes on a quarter panel?
Ever try to sand a curve with a brick? My first block was so stiff it basically just polished the high spots. I was fighting a door on an old Civic, and it looked worse when I was done. Switched to one of those foam ones that bends a little, and it was like the metal finally decided to cooperate. Night and day difference.

inMy sister said she never pays for a hotel in New York City anymore
So you're telling me I could have traveled for free if I just liked cats more?

inI thought those 'dollar store spice' videos were a total scam
Yeah, the blind taste test is the real proof... I did the same thing with basic black pepper. The expensive stuff in the fancy grinder and the cheap pre-ground tin. In cooked food, it's impossible to tell. I only notice a difference if I'm eating it on something plain, like eggs. For anything that gets heated up with other ingredients, the cheap stuff does the exact same job.
