inMost repair guides online skip the easy stuff and it bugs me
Ugh, this hits on something I see EVERYWHERE now. It's not just repair guides, it's like everything is set up to make you replace the whole thing instead of fixing the small problem. My coffee maker acted up last week and the first search result said "buy new model" when it just needed a good cleaning. Feels like we're pushed to waste stuff and miss the simple solutions that actually teach you how things work.

inSilverskin was my nemesis until this week
The scrape method you mentioned reminded me of my friend Sarah. She used to hack at parsley with the sharp edge and get green bits everywhere. Last week, she tried scraping with the back of her chef's knife to move it to the pot. It kept the herbs intact and made clean up easier. She said it felt like learning a basic skill all over again. Pretty cool how such a small change can make a big difference.

inCan we talk about warming up? I used to skip it every time.
I saw a study once where they tracked lifters over a few years. The ones who skipped warm-ups had way more shoulder and knee issues over time. Mike might be lucky, but most of us aren't built like that.

inPSA: My new habit of marking heat zones with soapstone changed my forge work
Oh, I did the same thing years ago. I kept messing up scrolls because I'd heat the wrong section and the bend would fight me. Drawing a line with soapstone showed me exactly where to focus the flame. It comes right off with a wire brush once you're done, no trouble at all. For twists, I'll sometimes mark the center and the ends to keep everything even. What kind of soapstone are you using, the pencil or the chunk?

My training partner Mike never warms up before heavy lifts. He's set state records without any prep time. The injury talk is overblown for most lifters.
