That time an old timer showed me how to save a brisket flat

Did you try trimming that thin part into a point shape instead of folding it? I've cooked a lot of briskets and folding the tip works but I've found it cooks uneven sometimes. The trick I learned was to cut a nice triangle off the thin end and use it for burnt ends. Then the flat stays uniform and you don't lose any meat to the grinder or trim bin. That old timer knew what he was doing though, a good knot with twine makes all the difference on a thin cut.

Switched to fabric pots from plastic last spring and my balcony tomatoes went nuts

Fabric pots kinda make stuff dry out too fast for me in my climate. My plants need more consistent moisture and the fabric lets it evaporate way quicker than I'd like. Feels like I'm watering every single day and my roots still aren't as happy as they were in plastic.

Warning: Trying to forge a railroad spike into a chef's knife at 2am after three beers

Man I had a buddy who used to weld with a beer in his hand every single night. Never had an issue until he tried to tack a piece of rebar to a garden gate and somehow lit his whole sleeve on fire. He was fine but his jacket was toast. Now he's the one telling everyone to stay sober and it's kinda funny seeing him turn into the safety guy. Sometimes it takes one close call to flip the switch I guess.

Thought all my designs needed a zipper. A teacher in my night class said 'stop hiding the fabric'.

Eva didn't answer the question - did you ever try a button after that visiting artist called you out, or did you just double down on the drawstrings? I've found those moments either crack something open or make you grip tighter, and there's no shame in either. What made you finally switch gears on that wrap coat, or was it really just Ms. Chen's one comment that did it?

I finally found the right tack strip for concrete floors

Double check that the concrete wasn't just damp when you tried the glue. Smooth concrete usually bonds fine with the right primer and a urethane adhesive. That double sided tape might peel up in a month when the slab really starts curing and shifting.
