The 3 a.m. rewrite trick that finally unclogged my sequel

Lowkey feel like the 3 a.m. part is doing more work than the villain thing. Your brain is half asleep so it stops second guessing every sentence, that's the real hack. The villain bit is solid but you could probably get the same result at 3 p.m. if you just turned off your inner editor for ten minutes. Anyway, congrats on the 12 pages, but don't make this a habit or your sleep schedule is gonna hate you.

I tried folding a 1972 cookbook into a lamp shade and it started smelling like burnt onion soup

Wait, you're mad that your 70s cookbook smells like actual food instead of some fake chemical smell? Old glue and paper breaking down from heat is just what happens sometimes, I've had a few old magazines get that toasty basement smell when I left them near a radiator. Honestly, burnt onion soup sounds way better than the musty, dusty farts I got from my grandpa's old car manuals. If the smell bothers you that much, just air it out for a few days, it fades, but I kinda think you stumbled onto a free candle situation.

That $18 'heirloom' tomato from the farmers market was a total dud

Isn't it funny how we'll pay extra just to feel fancy, then eat it sad and disappointed?

My realtor friend changed my mind about pricing low

It's like how any store marks things up just to mark them down for a sale, everyone loves feeling like they got a deal even if they technically didn't. Same psychology at play, just with houses and way higher stakes.
