inPro tip: You're probably over-torquing scope ring screws
My old man taught me to tighten scope screws until they just stop, then give a tiny nudge. Never had a scope slip in 20 years.

inJust read a report on decompression sickness rates in the Gulf of Mexico.
Isn't it always the same with any risky job? The deeper you go, the smaller the margin for error gets with everything. That 15% jump just shows how fast the rules change past a certain point.

inMy cousin's 'museum case' versus my dad's 'use it' approach to our great-grandmother's silver.
Ugh, that's so true. I see this with fancy towels or guest soaps that stay wrapped forever. People save the "good stuff" for a special day that never comes, and it just collects dust. Makes the stuff feel sad, not special.

inJust saw a shop in Milwaukee using a 3D printed jig to hold small parts for a second op. Never would have thought of that.
Hold on, doesn't the plastic just crush under real clamping force? For anything beyond super light duty, a printed insert seems like a false economy. You'll get creep and lose your grip, maybe even wreck the part. Machined aluminum is repeatable and solid every single time. The extra cost buys real peace of mind.
