inJust realized I was overcomplicating my tool offsets after talking to an old timer at the shop
How do you tell when you've hit that good enough point vs. actually just cutting corners though? @the_willow sounds like you learned that boundary the hard way.

inCoil spring snapped in the middle of a left turn at a busy intersection in Cleveland
Huh, @emma_hart, you know that popping sound parkernelson described, have you ever noticed how MUCH worse it gets in colder weather? I had a buddy with a Chevy Silverado that did the exact same thing, and FROZEN roads made that noise ten times louder. The metal gets so brittle when it's below freezing, it's like the spring is just waiting to snap. What really gets me is people think if they can't see rust on the outside, the spring is fine - that's just NOT true. The rust forms INSIDE the coils where the water gets trapped, and by the time you see it on the surface, it's already compromised. That whole "replace both sides" thing parkernelson mentioned is critical, because the other side has been through the exact same wear and tear, just maybe hasn't made itself known yet.

inHad to pick between my hiking boots and my sandals for a 10 day trip to Portland
My buddy did the same thing last year and ended up buying cheap sneakers at a Goodwill in Portland just so he could do the hikes. He said the sandals were fine for the city but absolutely brutal on any trail with roots or rocks.

inFinally cracked my broker review method after 8 months of wasted time
Same thing happens with everything now. It's like everyone's trained to look at the wrong numbers first. I've been burned by phone plans that looked cheap but charged for every little extra, and apartment listings that seemed great until you found out about the mandatory valet trash and package fees. People just put the flashy stuff upfront and bury the real costs. Withdrawals and support are the real test because that's where you see if they actually want to keep your business or just take your money.

inHit 10,000 hours of avionics bench work last week and honestly I think most of my early training was useless
Hang on @lucas_price83, it wasn't three years of coffee runs, it was two.
