My packing cube system fell apart on a 10 day trip to Japan

I thought I was being smart with packing cubes for my carry-on trip to Tokyo last month. I used those cheap ones from a discount store and they ended up busting open by day 3. My socks and underwear got all mixed up with my shirts and it was a total mess trying to find anything in the hotel room. The zippers broke on two of them and the fabric ripped right along the seam. I watched online tutorials before the trip and thought I had it all figured out but I guess you get what you pay for. Has anyone found a brand of packing cubes that actually holds up for longer trips?

Tbh I always thought you could get by with just using your frame as a truing stand. Then I stopped into this little shop called Bike Hub PDX last month and watched a mechanic true a carbon wheel on a proper Park Tool stand. He showed me how the frame flex was throwing off my work by at least 0.5mm on each side. Ngl I grabbed a used TS-2.2 off Craigslist the next week and my rear wheel hasn't wobbled since. Anyone else here cheap out on a truing stand for too long before realizing the difference?

I've been watching anime for like 8 years now and always been a snob about subs. You know, the whole "original voice acting is the only way" thing. But last week I decided to rewatch Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood and figured I'd give the English dub a shot for fun. Man, I was wrong. The voice acting is actually really solid and I caught so many details I missed before because I was reading subtitles the whole time. Stuff like background conversations and little sound effects that just slide past when you're focusing on text. Plus I could actually look at the animation during fight scenes instead of my eyes darting down every 2 seconds. Has anyone else had that experience where you switch dubs and realize you were missing half the show?

Headed up to Lake Tahoe last weekend and couldn't decide what to bring for morning coffee. I usually do a V60 at home but didn't want to pack the carafe and kettle. Grabbed a $8 Melitta cone and some paper filters instead of my buddy's Aeropress he offered to loan me. Honestly it worked fine over a camp stove - just poured slow and let it drip into my enamel mug. Took a little longer than I wanted but the cleanup was nothing. Anyone else have strong feelings about camp coffee gear?
