Hardwired in a 1920s schoolhouse, network guy said just use wireless

Had a job last month at an old school in Dayton converted to offices. The customer's IT guy kept pushing mesh nodes, said drilling through plaster was a waste. I ran one pull from the panel to the back office and it took us 3 hours because of fire blocking and lathe. He stood there watching, then said, "You know that's gonna fail in five years, right?" I told him wireless dies in five years too, just differently. Which side are you on when the walls are this old, do you fight for cable or let the network guys win?
