That "8-inch pot" must be a 8-inch diameter pot, not 8 inches tall, right?

inThe topside compressor got quieter over 6 months and I should have checked sooner
Totally agree with you on that one man. My old fridge started humming quieter than it ever had before and I thought it was finally settling in, you know? A week later it just gave up completely and all my food was ruined. It's crazy how something running smoother can actually be a warning sign, it's like the machine is too quiet because it's about to die. I had to learn that lesson the hard way too, now I get nervous when anything mechanical goes silent.

inSerious question about multimeter probe tips
Man, that sucks. I've seen that exact thing happen way too often, people just grabbing whatever pointed tip is handy without thinking about the pins they're working near. It's one of those little things that can cause a huge headache for zero good reason.

inI suggested a different ending for The Giver and my book club got mad
Did your book club actually try voting on which ending felt more real? I've been in groups where we read multiple endings of a book and it gets heated fast, but honestly that's the best part of these discussions. The staying ending might be too dark for some people but it hits harder if you ask me. You could always have them write a quick journal entry from Jonas's perspective after the sled scene, that really makes people think about what he'd actually do. Then compare notes and see if anyone shifts their stance on the ending.
