Honestly that's the whole thing with the old ones, you gotta be right on top of them to catch that little click and even then sometimes it's so soft you think it didn't happen. Tbh I've had a few times where I thought I heard it and then later realized nope, it was just the door settling or something random. Ngl the new ones take all that guessing out of it, which is a huge relief when you're trying to lock up late at night and just want to be sure. Once you get used to that clear snap or beep or whatever, it's hard to go back to hoping you caught the right sound.

Oh which one was it for you? I had that moment with A Little Life a few years back and honestly I still think about it more than I'd like to admit.
