The limestone cliffs were a total tease with all those fences
I planned a whole day trip to check out those huge limestone cliffs up north after seeing cool photos online. The layers in the rock were supposed to tell this ancient story, and I was pumped to spot some tiny fossils. But when I arrived, the whole base was wrapped in chain-link fencing with strict no-entry signs. I stood there for an hour, just looking at the rocks from fifty feet away. It felt pretty lame not being able to get close or even touch a sample. My boots were ready for some real exploring, but all I did was walk a paved path. Stuff like that really takes the fun out of geology for me. Next time, I'm calling ahead to see if touching is allowed.
