Unpopular opinion: Foam underlayment is more trouble than it's worth sometimes!

Last week, I was laying down foam underlayment for a laminate floor, and it kept curling up at the edges like crazy! I ended up using my tool boxes and even a spare tire to weigh it down. It was so silly, I laughed out loud while fighting with it. Now I always double-check the room temp before starting that step!

Right, what @abby_schmidt93 said about room temp... I've seen humidity wreck a wood glue joint because it was too damp in the garage. Stuff that's meant to be simple ends up needing a whole science degree to figure out. Those little variables sneak up on you every time, like how paint won't dry right if it's too cold.

you know, it's funny how the smallest things in DIY can turn into these huge fights. That foam curling up feels like a perfect example of how stuff that's supposed to make life easier just adds a whole new layer of hassle. I see that everywhere now, like with those impossible plastic clamshell packages you need scissors and pure rage to open. Your spare tire holding down flooring is the kind of chaotic fix that makes total sense in the moment. It's all about those tiny, annoying variables, like room temp, that you never think about until you're in the thick of it.
