Vent: My cousin wants to sell our great-grandpa's pocket watch and it's making me mad

I was at a family thing in Cleveland last month and my cousin pulled out our great-grandpa's railroad watch from 1912... He said he got it appraised and it's worth about $800. He thinks we should sell it and split the money. That watch came over from Poland with our family. It's not about the cash, it's about the story. He worked on the tracks for 40 years and this thing kept time for all of it. Who else has had to fight to keep a piece of history in the family?

Ugh, that makes my blood boil. My uncle tried to sell my grandma's wedding china at a garage sale for fifty bucks. I drove over and bought it myself just to stop him. Some people only see a price tag, not the family it belongs to. You have to dig your heels in on this one. That watch is a piece of your whole story.

My cousin sold our grandpa's fishing gear for beer money.
