Serious question, why did I spend $80 on a fancy salt cellar

I saw this nice salt cellar at a kitchen store downtown and thought it would make my counter look pretty. Dude, it holds like half a cup of salt and I have a giant bag of kosher salt from Costco that I now have to scoop into this tiny dish every few days. It actually made cooking more annoying because I run out mid-recipe and have to refill it. Has anyone else bought something for your kitchen that just made your life harder instead of easier?

That salt cellar cost $80 just to make me refill it every three days. My old salt box from the dollar store worked way better and never ran out mid-cooking. It looks nice on the counter but it definitely makes cooking harder, not easier.

For $80 I would expect it to season my food by itself and maybe do a little dance. But honestly the whole point of a salt cellar is that you can grab a pinch easily and see how much you're using. A cardboard box with a pour spout just dumps salt everywhere and you can't control it. The design matters for cooking, not just for looking good on the counter. If you're refilling every three days then you're probably cooking a normal amount, which means the thing is actually getting used the way it should.
