I used to think 3D modeling was just for show until I had to fix a 2D drawing for a Denver client

Their old floor plan had a duct clash that the 2D layout missed, but the 3D model I built in Revit found it in about 20 minutes. Now I'm split between thinking 3D is a must for clash detection or if it's just extra work for simple jobs. What's your take on when 3D modeling is actually worth the time?

But what if that 20 minutes adds up to hours on every single simple job... for a clash that might not even matter?

That "extra work for simple jobs" thing is real. But after seeing how fast a 3D model can catch a clash, I'd say it's worth it for anything more complex than a basic room layout.
