Warning: a $30 part saved me from a huge headache on a 6.7 Powerstroke last month

The truck had a rough idle and a code for low fuel rail pressure. I spent hours checking the high pressure pump and injectors before I found a cracked plastic fitting on the fuel line coming from the tank. Has anyone else seen those fittings fail on the newer Fords?

Those plastic fittings are a known weak spot, especially after a few heat cycles. Might be worth swapping them out preemptively if you're in there for something else.

Wait, are those fittings actually plastic?

The factory used those nylon fittings for over a decade without major issues. They handle the heat just fine in millions of cars. People swap them out more from fear than actual failure data.
