Just realized I was totally wrong about how to hold my shears
For years I held them like a regular pair of scissors, but a new stylist at the shop in Phoenix pointed out my thumb was in the wrong ring. She showed me her grip, and my cuts have been way smoother for the past week. Anyone else have a basic technique they were doing wrong for way too long?

Oh man, that's the worst feeling. I spent two years holding a chef's knife completely wrong, like a total caveman. My grip was so bad I'm shocked I still have all my fingers. A friend finally had to step in and show me the right way, and I felt like such a fool. It's crazy how you can just muscle through the wrong way for so long.
