I finally stopped using a regular comb for detangling wet hair after a color service.
Switched to a wide tooth Wet Brush about 3 months ago. Used to just grab whatever was clean. Saw way less breakage on my last three clients with long hair. The bristles give more than a standard comb. Anyone have a different detangling tool they swear by?

Is all this really worth overthinking? I just run my fingers through my hair in the shower when it's full of conditioner. Works fine, costs nothing. People are acting like we need a special engineering degree to wash our hair now.

Actually, wet hair is at its most fragile, so the real move is detangling BEFORE you shampoo. A wide tooth comb on damp hair with conditioner is way gentler. The Wet Brush is good, but starting the process dry or damp prevents most of the stress.

Oh so we're all just supposed to have perfectly detangled hair before we even get in the shower now? Thanks for the tip, @christophermorgan. My hair is a tangled mess the second I wake up. Trying to comb it dry would just snap it all off. The wet brush in the shower with conditioner works for me because the slip actually helps. Guess my hair didn't get the memo about the new rules.
