A salon in Savannah had the most calming setup I've ever seen

I was visiting my sister down there last month and popped into a little place called The Twisted Scissors for a trim. The whole back area where they did color had these soft, warm lamps instead of harsh overhead lights, and they played quiet jazz music. It felt more like a spa than a salon, and every client looked completely relaxed. Has anyone else tried changing their station's lighting to help with client comfort?

Consider the stylist's own focus and energy after a long day. Working under harsh lights for hours is draining, and a tired stylist can't do their best work. A calm space helps them stay sharp and gives you a better result.

That sounds amazing (and honestly makes me want to book a flight to Savannah). Soft lighting is such a game changer, it probably helps the stylists see the true color tones way better too.

Actually, @paige205, you'd want really bright, natural light for color matching, not soft light. Soft light is cozy but it hides tones and can make colors look different. Stylists need that clear, white daylight to see the real undertones in your hair, like if it's more gold or ash.
