My neighbor's offhand comment about chemtrails made me dig deeper

I was out watering my plants last weekend and my neighbor Bob walked over to complain about the white lines in the sky. He's in his 70s and told me he used to work for a pesticide company back in the 70s. He said they had planes that would spray stuff over crops and it looked exactly like what he sees now but more often. He said 'they just found a new way to do the same old thing' and walked off. That stuck with me for days because he wasn't yelling about it, just stating it like a fact. I spent like 3 hours that night looking up old aerial spraying photos from the 60s and comparing them to modern contrail patterns. Some of them look almost identical but nobody seems to connect those dots. Has anyone else had a casual conversation like that where a random person made you question something?

Haha yeah welcome to the rabbit hole where your elderly neighbor is spookier than any conspiracy site.

Old people are terrifying because they actually remember when things were normal. Like my grandma casually mentioned that her high school yearbook from 1958 has three kids in it who just... disappeared from town records completely. Not dead, not moved away, just gone. I spent a whole weekend digging through old newspapers and census data and those three kids exist in every school document up until graduation, then nothing. No death certificates, no marriage licenses, no social security numbers ever issued. My grandma just shrugs and says "that's how it was back then" like it's no big deal.
