The city permit office held my renovation for 11 weeks over a door hinge issue

I was trying to convert an old bank lobby into a yoga studio in Cleveland and thought I had everything squared away. The building inspector flagged the fire rated door hinges because they were 3 inches off from the approved spec sheet. It took me 11 weeks to get the right replacements because the supplier kept sending the wrong model. By the time I fixed it, I had already lost two signed lease deposits from instructors who got tired of waiting. Has anyone else had a minor code issue turn into a months long nightmare?

The 3 inch hinge issue is EXACTLY the kind of nonsense that makes me want to scream at city hall. I had a similar 8 week hold up in Columbus over a missing stamp on an electrical permit that the inspector had already verbally approved.

Oh man, I had almost the exact same thing happen with a plumbing permit in Denver. The inspector gave me the thumbs up and then the office held everything up for 6 weeks because the paperwork didn't have the right "file number" format lol. Drove me absolutely nuts.
