Looking at my old packing list from a 2015 trip to Rome... it's a different world now.

Back then, my list had things like a travel iron, a big hardcover guidebook, and three pairs of jeans. I was so worried about being unprepared. The change really started after a trip in 2019 where my bag got gate-checked and I lost it for two days. Now I just pack two of everything that dries fast, a tablet, and one pair of pants. What was the one thing you used to pack that seems crazy to bring now?

Remember when that was the height of cool tech? He must have felt like a king with his own little movie theater while the rest of us were stuck staring at the seatback in front of us. Honestly, I kind of miss the commitment it took to watch a movie back then, having to carry those discs around in a separate case. It was a whole production compared to just pulling out a phone. Makes you realize how fast things changed. That bulky player is probably in a landfill now, replaced by a thousand streaming apps.
