Shoutout to the rib-cutting tip from a busy Tuesday

Preparing ribs used to be a slow process for me. I would fumble with the bones and waste good meat. Last Tuesday, during a big rush, another butcher saw me struggle. He showed me how to slide the knife along the natural curve of the bones. Now I can prep three times as many racks in the same time. It's a small win, but it feels huge when you're busy. I'm thankful for the help and how it improved my work.

Look, I gotta push back on celebrating tiny tips like that. Getting faster at one small task just means the boss will pile three more jobs on you. They see you doing ribs quicker and suddenly you're also cleaning machines and stocking shelves in that same time. That "helpful" butcher just trained you to work harder for the same pay. Real improvement would be getting a better wage or more staff, not learning to move like a robot. It just burns people out faster.

That butcher's tip reminds me how small efficiencies add up over years.

Honestly, aaron's got a point though. That little speed-up just gets baked into the new normal, and then you're expected to do even more.
