Hit exactly $50 on a full Star-Lord cosplay from the thrift store

I was just messing around at Goodwill with $40 in my pocket and somehow walked out with a leather jacket, red button-up, and those pants with the weird knee pads for under $30. The other $20 went to spray paint and an old toy Walkman, and my buddy actually thought I spent hundreds - has anyone else accidentally nailed a character with random thrift finds?

Dude that is wild, the stars aligned for you. I did the same thing with a Han Solo cosplay last year, found a brown vest and a white shirt that looked like they were pulled right off the set. My belt was just an old leather one I had lying around, and I think I spent maybe 25 bucks total at the same thrift store. People at the party were asking where I bought it and I just laughed, told them Goodwill had my back.

Wait have you guys seen that YouTube doc about the guy who does all his cosplay from thrift stores? It's pretty interesting, there's this whole community of people who do budget cosplay and they get really creative with it. I think it was called something like "Thrift Store Heroes" or whatever. But yeah man, that's the way to do it. Spending hundreds on a costume for one party is just stupid when you can find perfectly good stuff for cheap. Plus it's more fun to hunt for the stuff and figure out how to make it work. You get way more satisfaction from telling people you got it all at Goodwill than from saying you dropped two hundred bucks online.
