At a guild meet in St. Louis, a binder told me my use of PVA glue was 'amateur' and that I should only use animal glue. I still think he was wrong.

That binder at the Archon meetup had a point about animal glue. It stays flexible for decades, which PVA just doesn't do over time. Maybe he was rude, but the old school method has real staying power.

Totally agree, sometimes the old ways just last longer (even if the people talking about them can be a bit much).

Used hide glue on a chair repair ten years back, still holds fine.
