My sister told me to skip the audiobook for our book club pick and I should have listened
Honestly, our club chose 'The Night Watchman' for our March read. My sister, who's in a different club, said the audio version loses a lot of the book's specific rhythm and voice. I was busy and did the 14-hour audiobook anyway. Tbh, during the debate, everyone kept talking about the writing style on the page, the paragraph breaks, and how it felt to read it. I totally missed that whole layer. Ngl, I felt pretty out of the loop. Has anyone else had a book club pick where the format you chose really changed your take on it?

Nah, I gotta hard disagree lol. Audiobooks are a legit way to experience a story, full stop. The narrator brings their own voice and feeling that you just don't get from the page. Maybe your club was too focused on the technical stuff and missed the actual story? I listened to that one too and thought it was powerful. Sometimes the performance adds a whole different layer that silent reading can't touch.

My buddy got choked up listening to that same book in his car.

Wait, what book are we even talking about here? I'm lost without that key detail. The whole argument changes based on the story itself.
