Frustrated with my book club's predictable book votes
Last month, my book club voted on our next book, and a few people picked a popular novel that was really boring. Half the group didn't care during the talk because they hated the book. I feel we should change how we choose books so everyone likes them. How does your club handle book picks?

Portland's book club rotation saved us from many dull meetings.

It's wild that a popular book made half your club lose interest. Big hype can mean the book is not as good as people say. My club switches who picks each month, so we all get a say.

Wait half your club quit over one book? That's insane. We had a book that everyone hated last year but we just argued about it for an hour and moved on. Losing actual members means that pick must have been truly awful. Rotating the pick is the only way to survive, no one person should have that much power.
