Stopped at a little library in Taos and found a book with no final chapter
I was driving through New Mexico two weeks ago and stepped into this tiny independent bookstore off the main plaza. The owner handed me a novel from 1972 called 'The Last Crossing' and warned me the ending was cut off at page 247. I bought it for $4 and sure enough, the final chapter is just blank pages with a note from the publisher saying the author never turned it in. Has anyone else run into a book that literally stops mid story like that? I am trying to figure out if there is a completed version somewhere or if this is just a weird printing error.
47 pages missing, that's wild. It reminds me of how many things in life just cut off without a proper ending, like when you're binge watching a Netflix show and they cancel it on a cliffhanger, or when a video game series just stops mid story because the studio shut down. Books are supposed to be different, you know, permanent. But I guess even physical stuff falls apart sometimes. Hope you find the full version, but if not, at least you got a cool mystery out of it.
