I was at the grocery store in Madison when a little kid pointed at me and asked his mom if I was his 'first mom' because we had the same hair.
I just stood there frozen by the frozen peas while his mom tried to explain open adoption to a four-year-old, and now I always wear a hat when I go shopping... anyone else have a totally random public moment that caught you off guard?

My explanation is usually just me pointing at the hat and shrugging. It gets the point across without any awkward talking. What's your go-to move for avoiding small talk?
