I thought those cheap plastic guards were a waste of money

For years, I only used metal guards on my clippers, thinking the plastic ones from the supply store were junk. Then my apprentice bought a pack of the Andis plastic guards for like $12 and insisted we try them. I was shocked at how much quieter they made the clippers run, especially on kids who get jumpy. Has anyone else switched and noticed a difference with certain clients?

Oh man, the plastic guard snobbery is real. I was the same way, swore by metal until I accidentally left mine at a house call and had to use a cheap plastic one. The noise drop is crazy, feels like you're not even using clippers anymore. It's the quietest ten bucks you'll ever spend, and now I feel silly for fighting it for so long.

Guess I was too busy being a tough guy to hear the quiet.
