Tried two different ways to pack a tricky glass tabletop last month

One crew just wrapped it in moving blankets and hoped for the best, but the other team built a proper crate with 2x4s and foam. The first table showed up with a chip in the corner, the second was perfect. I mean, the crate took an extra 45 minutes to make, but it saved a $700 piece. Is that extra time always worth it, or do you just go with the blanket wrap for most things?

hoped for the best" lol that's the part that got me. You can't just hope with glass, it's gonna lose every time. Spending 45 minutes to definitely save the item is a no brainer. The blanket crew basically gambled your $700 table. I'd be so mad if that was my stuff. The extra time is always worth it for anything that can't just be replaced easy.

Spot on, @susan_brown80. It's the same cheap shortcut thinking that ruins so much stuff, from movers to contractors.
