Question about the ending of 'The Dark Knight Rises'
I was watching it again last night and realized Bruce Wayne could have just faked his death and stayed in Gotham. He had the resources to disappear, maybe run the orphanage under a new name. What other ways could he have handled that final scene?

The part about him running an orphanage made me laugh. It's like @the_abby said, his whole life is built on that specific trauma. I see this a lot where people try to fix a problem by staying too close to it, and it just keeps the wound open. He needed a clean break to actually live, not just keep being Batman in a different costume.
