Spent $2,400 on a custom drysuit that leaked from dive one, should I repair or trash it?

...and honestly, people act like getting wet is the end of the world. Tbh, you paid for a custom fit, and if the wrist seal is leaking after one dive, that's just bad QC. But here's the thing, are you sure you're not just mad about the money and blowing this out of proportion? I mean, a quick re-glue job on a seal is like a 20 minute fix if you know someone who does repairs. Would you really toss a $2,400 suit over a seal when the rest of it might be fine? That feels like a tantrum, not a decision. Maybe calm down, get a second opinion from a different shop, and see if it's actually the suit or just how you put it on.

Project Gutenberg vs library apps for old sci-fi, Gutenberg won me over

Six weeks for Asimov is why I now treat my library app like a bootleg, not a library.

Traded my mechanic's old toolbox for a guitar and got schooled on value

Wait, you mean to tell me you spent YEARS playing a guitar that was out of tune and never noticed? That's wild to me. Like, I get it, I'm not a musician either, but I always thought the whole point was that if it sounds bad you fix it. You just thought that's how the song went? Man, that's like driving a car with a flat tire and just assuming the road got bumpy. I once traded a set of snow tires for a beat up amp that only made a crackling noise. Turns out I just needed to spray some contact cleaner on the volume knob. Took ten seconds, and suddenly it sounded like a real amp instead of a bag of popcorn. I felt like such a dummy, but not as bad as you, no offense.

The 8mm projector my dad left me finally gave up

Brick" is about right, but it hurts to hear. If the shops in Cincy are all saying no, you got two real options. You can find some old timer on Craigslist or a local facebook group who works on this stuff out of their garage, they exist but you gotta dig. Or you ship the projector out to a specialist, there are a few online businesses who still do this kind of work. It ain't cheap and shipping is a risk with the glass and all, but better than the trash. I'd hit up any local AV clubs or film school forums too, those folks usually know a guy. If all that fails, at least get the reels digitized before you give up on the machine itself.
